Account Executive

The Account Executive is the link between the client and agency and is responsible for the successful execution of day-to-day marketing projects. This individual keeps clients informed at every stage of a project and ensures that they are satisfied with all work as it progresses. The Account Executive coordinates the activities for our creative teams and takes primary responsibility for setting and meeting deadlines. The person in this position handles several client accounts and is responsible for creative briefs, job orders, developing project estimates (with input from various team members), managing budgets, maintaining schedules, and developing status and conference reports. The following is a list of responsibilities and expectations:

  • Act as liaison between client and agency by maintaining regular contact with both while ensuring effective communication flow
  • Expected to be familiar with the clients’ business and be ready to contribute ideas and suggestions in meetings
  • Lead strategic projects with the support of the Executive Vice President of Client Services
  • Keep EVP briefed on all client needs, concerns and issues while maintaining overall client initiative calendars
  • Stay aware of clients’ business goals and have constant knowledge of clients’ business needs and challenges beyond direct areas of responsibility
  • Develop marketing plans to meet clients’ business goals by working directly with them to assess and refine needs
  • Oversee the progression of projects; coordinating projects with internal agency departments
  • Develop and update project timelines, meeting deadlines and prioritize tasks
  • Participate in creative development: write creative briefs, hold internal briefings with creative team, and assure adherence to strategy during the review process
  • Monitor competitors’ activity and media placements
  • Evaluate internal and external processes and make suggestions for improvements as necessary
  • Responsible for job profitability and supporting overall client profitability

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in advertising, marketing or related field
  • Requires 2+ years of agency experience managing clients, or equivalent client-side marketing experience
  • Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint proficiency
  • Knowledge of Advantage software and Scarborough Research a plus
  • Experience with media planning and buying a plus
  • Must be a confident self-starter, a team player, an innovative problem solver and able to manage multiple projects at once
  • Needs to be attentive to detail, resourceful, work well under pressure and have strong communication skills
